In this, oxygen or air is continuously supplied to the Biological (Aeration) Reactor through direct Surface Aeration system with the use of Impellers propelled by Pumps or by Submerged Diffused Aeration system that use Air Root Blowers for Air supply through diffusers. The aerobic condition results in complete oxidation of organic matter to water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, etc., thereby eliminating odor which is caused due to incomplete oxidation. Further, air supply also aids in efficient and uniform mixing inside the tank.
Here, the sewage treatment plants are partially decomposed in closed Biological Reactor minus air which further leads to reduction of organic matter into Hydrogen Sulfide, Methane, Carbon Dioxide, etc. It is extensively used for treating wastewater sludge & organic waste, as it provides volume as well as mass reduction of input material to a large extent.
